Point guard Derrick Rose led the way as the Chicago Bulls dropped the Los Angeles Lakers at home, 88-84. The Bulls survived a late-surge by the Lakers, hanging-on after nearly blowing a 12-point lead with just three minutes to go. Los Angeles got as close as three with under a minute left, but could never break-through against a stingy Bulls squad.
Derrick Rose, Bulls Host Lakers, Try To Extend Winning Streak
Rose's 29 points, five rebounds and nine assists paced the Bulls. Carlos Boozer added 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Luol Deng chipped-in 14 points and Kyle Korver added 13 points off the bench.
Kobe Bryant's team-high 23 points weren't enough to bring the Lakers back into the game down the stretch. Pau Gasol complimented Bryant's outside scoring with an inside presence, adding 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Lamar Odom was the third piece in Los Angeles' scoring trio, adding 18 points and eight rebounds.
The Lakers fell to 16-7 with the loss, snapping a three-game winning streak. Chicago improved to 12-8 increasing its own winning streak to four games. The Bulls host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday while the Lakers travel to New Jersey to take-on the Nets on Sunday.
