Victories for Hannover 96 on Friday and Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich in the early Saturday kickoffs have transfigured the top of the Bundesliga table. A pair of goals from Didier Ya Konan gave Hannover a 2-1 victory at home against lowly Stuttgart, which moved them up into second overnight. They were overtaken on Saturday afternoon by Bayer Leverkusen, whose 4-2 win against Hamburg SV meant they took over second spot. Sidney Sam opened the scoring in the first half before Arturo Vidal put through his own net shortly after halftime. The Chilean restored the visitors’ advantage shortly after, and a pair of goals from Renato Augusto (although the second appeared to go in off of Frank Rost) were enough for Leverkusen to continue a ten-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Bundesliga, Week 16: Didier Ya Konan Double Moves Hannover 96 Into Third, Bayer Leverkusen Up To Second
Bayern Munich moved into fifth with a confident 3-0 win at home against St. Pauli -- the Bavarians have now won their last eight home games. Cologne snatched a vital 1-0 victory in the relegation battle against Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to a lovely goal from Christian Clemens, while Wolfsburg continued their poor run with a 0-0 draw in Kaiserslautern. Hoffenheim controlled much of their match against Nürnberg, and led for most of the second half through Marvin Compper, only for Christian Eigler to equalize with just three minutes to play.
