New York Giants WR Steve Smith may be done for the year. Smith missed a month of action with injury and returned last weekend....only to suffer another injury. This one, according to the NY Daily News, may put him out for a while, if not the season.
Steve Smith Injury May Threaten End Of His 2010 Season With New York Giants
In his first game back after missing a month with a torn pectoral muscle, Smith may have suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Giants' 21-3 win over the Vikings on Monday night, according to two sources familiar with his ailment. The injury is believed to be a tear to the meniscus cartilage, though the source did not know the severity.
Smith suffered a hamstring injury on Monday night against the Vikings but a Tuesday MRI revealed damage to the knee. One source told the NY Daily News that it "doesn't look good" for Smith but the Giants had yet to determine if they would place him on injured reserve or see if he can fight it out and return. The Giants have been productive with and without Smith at times but it would still be a blow if they were to lose Smith.
The key to remember is that, at this point, nothing has been decided about his future this year.
Fantasy football players won’t be happy with this report considering it’s playoff time for most.
Also getting an MRI was WR Mario Manningham, who suffered a hip injury. It wasn't a good week to be a Giants receiver to say the least. The bright side is that WR Hakeem Nicks has returned and appeared healthy.
