The Carolina Panthers enter Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons with nothing to play for. The No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL draft is secured and with the way this season has been going I imagine many players would prefer it be over. On the flip side, the Falcons do have something to play for. If they win, they can secure a first round bye in the playoffs. If they lose, and the Saints win, they can lose that first round bye and find themselves going on the road in the wildcard round after leading the NFC for much of the year.
NFL Picks Week 17: Carolina Panthers Need A Miracle Against Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are expected to win this game -- by a lot. They’re 15 points favorites according to NFL odds and there’s really no reason why they shouldn’t win this game.
The Falcons are among the most balanced teams in the NFL. They run the ball well, pass it efficiently and play good defense. They’re almost boring at how solid they are all around.
The Panthers on the other hand...they're the worst offense in the NFL. They have major quarterback issues -- is Jimmy Clausen the man or not? -- and, as we noted, don't have much motivation.
Look for the Falcons to roll in this one as they clinch the NFC South and a first round bye. We’ll predict 30-20 in favor of the Falcons.
