The 2010 Liberty Bowl pairs the nation's two best freshman quarterbacks in Georgia Bulldogs QB Aaron Murray and Central Florida Knights QB Jeff Godfrey. It's also the first reunion of former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets coach George O'Leary and the Dawgs since O'Leary attempted to take the Notre Dame Fighting Irish job.
Liberty Bowl, Georgia Vs. UCF: Ace Freshman Quarterbacks Meet In Memphis
Murray and Godfrey both rank in the top ten nationally in passer rating and yards per attempt, the first freshmen to do so since eventual No. 1 NFL Draft pick Sam Bradford. The game will feature dreary weather, which could limit both Godfrey's scrambling and Murray's bombs to soon-to-be superstar WR A.J. Green.
This is likely Green’s last game as a Bulldog, though he has yet to officially declare for the NFL Draft. He’s expected to be a top-five pick, but an impressive game in crappy weather against a tough (by Conference USA standards) UCF defense could seal the deal.
