Buffalo Bills team needs
The Buffalo Bills are coming off another tough season that resulted in a coaching change. The Bills need to make a lot of decisions and those decisions will impact their draft strategy. Will they pursue a veteran quarterback? Is the defense switching to a 3-4 scheme? Is the T.O. show continuing for another season? The Bills have a lot of holes to fill here are their top 3.
1. Offensive Tackle
- Trading Jason Peters has left a huge hole along the offensive line that must be addressed. I have the tackle position ahead of quarterback because young quarterbacks need protection. Demetrius Bell has shown promise but he maybe better suited for the right side. First round targets for the Bills could include Russell Okung, Anthony Davis, and Brian Bulaga.
2. Quarterback
- The trio of Brian Brohm, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Trent Edwards is not the long term solution at the quarterback position. New coach Chan Gailey needs to assess what talent he has and what talent is available and get a direction. There have been a lot of rumors about the Bills pursuing Michael Vick or possibly Gailey’s old project Tyler Thigpen. As far as the draft is concerned both Jimmy Clausen and Sam Bradford may be available but it’s highly unlikely. Later round options are Colt McCoy and Dan LeFevour.
3. Linebacker
- Staff changes have many thinking that the Bills will be switching their defensive scheme to a 3-4. This change will require personal to fit the scheme. One of the bigger needs might be filling the linebacker spots. Paul Posluszny is the current middle linebacker but in the 3-4 scheme another inside linebacker will be needed. Also who is going to fill the pass rushing outside linebacker spots? Aaron Maybin could fill one and maybe they draft another. Rolando McClain might be available at pick #9 and someone like Jerry Hughes in the second round.
