Recently any season the New England Patriots don’t make the Super Bowl is a disappointment, so expect changes to be made. The Patriots have a lot of draft picks this year and expect them to give the defense an influx of talent.
New England Patriots team needs
1. Linebacker
- Adalius Thomas is all but gone and the Patriots need a pass rushing presence off the edge. First round options include Ricky Sapp and Sergio Kindle. Expect the Patriots to use one of their three 2nd round picks to find an upgrade over inside linebacker Eric Alexander.
2. Wide Receiver
- The Patriots need to address the receiver position, Randy Moss is aging and Wes Welker is coming of a major injury. Julian Edelman showed some promise but depth needs to be added. Second round options include Mardy Gilyard and Arrelious Benn.
3. Cornerback
- The Patriots used some picks last year on this position but more talent and depth is needed. Shawn Springs is not getting younger and Leigh Bodden is expected to be a hot target on the free agent market. Targets may include Kyle Wilson and Patrick Robinson in the first round and Brandon Ghee in the second.
