Mike Komisarek’s Spot On Team USA Also In Jeopardy
Mike Komisarek may be joining American defensive buddy Paul Martin on the sidelines for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Hockey competition is just two weeks away, and Komisarek is still out of the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup with a shoulder injury.
He suffered the injury on January 2, just a day after the Team USA roster was announce, and as of right now, he’s stated that his season could be over. Obviously, that would dash his Olympic eligibility.

While Martin is certainly an important piece of the defense and his absence is a serious detriment to Team USA’s medal chances, you have to wonder why he was even selected to the team in the first place. The team was finalized on January 1, and a positive prognosis on Martin for the Games was less than guaranteed then.
