Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Edgar Sosa scored 15 points and handed out eight assists as he helped lead the Louisville Cardinals to an 82-69 win over the Connecticut Huskies in a Big East showdown at Freedom Hall.

Also scoring in double figures for the Cardinals (14-8, 5-4 Big East) were Jerry Smith with 14 points, Samardo Samuels 13 and Reginald Delk 10 points as the squad won for the second time in the last three outings.

The Huskies (13-9, 3-6), who were bounced out of the national rankings on Monday after back-to-back losses to Providence and Marquette last week, were paced by Jerome Dyson who tallied a game-high 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the floor. Kemba Walker added 15 points, Stanley Robinson 14 and a game- high 11 rebounds, and Gavin Edwards 13 points off the bench in the team's third straight setback.

Louisville scored the first points of the night and never looked back, using 6-of-10 shooting behind the three-point line in the first half to take a 48-34 lead at the break.

In the second half the Cardinals dipped to 4-of-12 shooting beyond the arc and just 40 percent form the floor overall, but the damage had already been done as the home team picked up the 13-point win over UConn.

In addition to shooting only 37.5 percent from the field, the Huskies also hurt themselves with 18 turnovers, which Louisville traded in for 15 points.

The loss for UConn means the school has now dropped five straight league road dates, the first time that has happened since the 2000-01 campaign.

The schools are due to meet again at the end of this month in Connecticut to complete the season series, one that currently favors the Huskies by a 5-3 count.
