There are those who believe that Major League Soccer simply must conform to the world’s calendar. The feeling is that MLS is somehow a lesser league, attached to permanent understudy status, because it doesn’t do things as the big boys do; the world’s most prominent associations make the magic from fall to spring.
Over here, things are a little different. I won’t go over the whole thing as I’ve covered this snowy ground before (with a helpful assist from some insightful reader comments ... thanks, guys).
