Denny Hamlin, Jason White Go From Enemies To Friends

As Nate Ryan writes in USA Today, there could be hope for rivals Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski.

↵Ryan has the story of Hamlin and his former enemy Jason White – now a Camping World Truck Series driver but formerly a Hamlin adversary from the same area in Virginia.

↵As youths they disliked each other, but when Hamlin moved to Charlotte five years ago, their relationship thawed. They even tried to settle the question of which driver was better.

↵↵“I kept telling him, ‘I’m a better driver than you,’” says White, who struggled to find a stable ride while running mostly partial schedules from 1999-2006.

↵They decided to settle it three years ago at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte. White, who recently had hooked a steadier truck ride, beat Hamlin four times in a row.

↵Since then, White has become part of Hamlin’s posse. He partied with Hamlin through the 2009 NASCAR awards ceremony week in Las Vegas. Last month, they vacationed for a week in Los Angeles together and attended the BCS National Championship Game before jetting to Nashville, for the Sprint Sound and Speed event.

↵↵For more of this interesting backstory on the former rivals, read Ryan’s story on USAToday.com.
