If there is going to be one team this year that threatens either the USA or Canada for the gold medal in women’s hockey, many believe it could be Sweden. After the methodical way that the Swedes dispatched Switzerland on Saturday, they are certainly well on their way to competing for top honors.
Sweden Dominates in 3-0 Victory Over Switzerland
Sweden outshot Switzerland 22-9, receiving goals from Rundqvist, Enstrom and Uden-Johansson while goaltender Kim Martin got the shutout. The Swiss struggled all game long sustaining any sort of pressure, while Sweden played a safe and patient game and took advantage of the opportunities they scored once in each period.
Sweden takes on Slovakia in the next game, Monday at 10 p.m. EST.
