Hannah Kearney Gives America Its First Gold Medal In Vancouver

Freestyle skier Hannah Kearney earned America its first gold medal of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games with her win in Women’s Moguls Saturday night. Fellow American Shannon Bahrke won bronze.

The win prolonged Canada’s long drought of having never won a gold when hosting the Winter Olympics. Jennifer Heil was in first position until the final run of the competition, when Kearney supplanted her for the gold, by a final score of 26.63 to 25.69.
