Baylors Tips Past Missouri, 64-62

Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Ekpe Udoh’s tip-in with 1.3 seconds remaining lifted 24th-ranked Baylor to a 64-62 win over Missouri at the Ferrell Center.

Baylor led throughout the majority of the contest, and were nursing a two- point lead inside the final minute of regulation. Tweety Carter looked to make it a two-possession game, but missed a jumper that resulted in a fastbreak opportunity for Missouri's Kim English, who tied the game at 61 with 46.9 seconds showing on the clock.

LaceDarius Dunn tried unsuccessfully to disrupt the shot and was called for an intentional foul. English made 1-of-2 free throws, giving the Tigers their first lead since Justin Safford opened the game's scoring, and the visitors retained the ball.

J.T. Tiller couldn't get a shot to fall and Anthony Jones came down with the defensive rebound. Dunn then attacked the rim and was fouled with 6.2 seconds left. His first free throw tied the game, but he couldn't convert the second attempt.

However, Quincy Acy secured the offensive board and quickly threw up a shot. Jones failed to sink the putback, but Udoh was able to get his hand on the ball for the deciding bucket.

“I think the people that hit winning shots are going to miss some because they have the courage to take them,” said Baylor head coach Scott Drew, who picked up his 100th win with the program. “I know that Ekpe is one of those guys that doesn’t mind having a lot of pressure on him. He performs well under (pressure) and I think our guys look to him.”

Dunn scored 17 points and Carter added 14 with six assists for Baylor (19-5, 6-4 Big 12), which has won four of its last five games. Acy recorded a double- double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Zaire Taylor scored 15 points to pace the Tigers (18-7, 6-4), who had won two straight. English and Safford both contributed 13 points.

“(It was a) well-played game between two good teams, but we just came out on the short end of the stick,” said Missouri head coach Mike Anderson. “We put ourselves in position to have a chance to steal one on the road, and this would’ve been a great one to get, but it was all for naught.”

Baylor ripped off eight straight points following Safford's opening bucket, and pushed the lead to 18-10 when Dunn hit a three-pointer. The Bears settled for a 38-32 halftime lead, but a Marcus Denmon jumper pulled Missouri to within 47-46 seven minutes into the second half.

Moments later, a Josh Lomers layup and Carter three-pointer stretched Baylor's margin to 52-46.
