The Vancouver Olympic Committee cannot seem to keep anyone happy from protesters to spectators. Now some complaining about the design of the Olympic medals. Some critics of the games are not thrilled with the wavy look of the medals:
Critics Are Starting Complain About Vancouver Medal Designs
↵Poking fun at the prizes has been sport since the unorthodox design was unveiled in October. “Yuck,” groaned one detractor. “Fancy a pringle chip?”↵Asked to weigh in recently, Editor-at-Large Richard Burnett of Montreal’s alternative weekly newspaper the Hour said: “The gold and bronze medals look like melted chocolate someone pulled out of their back pocket. The silver medal looks like it still has foil wrap on it.”↵The medals were created by architect Omer Arbel and artist Corrine Hunt. Arbel had this to say about the medals:
↵Arbel seemed surprised he got the gig, telling Motherboard.tv: “It’s still a mystery to me why our office was selected. We design buildings and furniture and chandeliers. We find interesting ways to make objects. ... This is our first medal. Probably our last.”↵The one thing we know as fans though is that the competitors will never complain about getting a medal:
