Steve Doerschuck of the Canton Repository poses an interesting question: Are the Browns equal to the Saints without Drew Brees?
Without Drew Brees, Are The Saints Equal To The Browns?
↵↵Think about it. Suppose the Saints and Browns swapped quarterbacks in 2009, then played each other. If you had to bet your life savings, which team would you have picked?
↵↵He makes the argument that the Browns have several pieces the Saints wished they had, namely three current or future Pro Bowlers on the offense line. But the rest of the Saints may be that good simply because of Brees.
↵↵Granted, Brees has talented receivers, but one certainly wonders. What if Marques Colston and Devery Henderson had been catching balls from Charlie Frye, Anderson and Quinn the last four years?
↵↵It is a quarterback driven league but Doerschuck’s argument seems to be a stretch.
