McMurray’s Million

The Daytona 500 has the richest purse of any race, which will become incredibly obvious to Jamie McMurray and his team when they get their check for winning NASCAR’s Super Bowl.

↵McMurray and his Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team collected just over $1.5 million for winning the 500 (drivers typically keep between 40 and 50 percent of their winnings).

↵Dale Earnhardt Jr. got nearly $1.1 million for finishing second, but the totals drop off quickly after that. Greg Biffle got almost $800,000 for third.

↵Joe Nemechek finished last after an accident, but still had a pretty good day: He collected $261,424 for placing 43rd.
