Demian Maia Medically Cleared For UFC 112 Title Bout

↵He was suspended until Aug. 6 or until he was cleared by a physician. Maia was examined by a Nevada Athletic Commission doctor this week and he was cleared to fight.

↵↵- Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole says that Demian Maia was medically cleared for his middleweight title fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 112.

↵That clears one big hurdle. Maia is replacing the injured Vitor Belfort but had suffered an ugly looking cut around his eyelid which could have stood in the way of his getting cleared to compete. It now appears that, barring a training injury, Maia vs. Silva for the 185 pound title is a go.
