↵The Ohio Athletic Commission has turned down a proposed heavyweight bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (25-6) and “The Ultimate Fighter 10” alumnus Wes Sims (22-13-1) at the as-yet-unnanounced “Adrenaline MMA V” event on March 20 in Youngstown, Ohio.
Ohio Athletic Commission executive director Bernie Profato ruled the bout “non-competitive” and informed Adrenaline promoter Monte Cox that it would not be sanctioned.
Wes Sims v. Tim Sylvia Denied Sanctioning as ‘Non-Competitive’
↵While Sylvia did get starched by Ray Mercer, he is still a legitimate fighter who isn’t far removed from a lengthy stay in the top ten of the heavyweight division. Sims, on the other hand, has had one sanctioned bout since 2008 and that was his getting handled by Bobby Lashley. Aside from that he got easily handled by Justin Wren in his time on The Ultimate Fighter.
↵It wasn’t a legitimate fight and much respect to Ohio for shooting it down.
