Richardson’s Hot Shooting Leads Phoenix To A 109-95 Win At Memphis

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Jason Richardson had the hot hand for Phoenix, going 12-for-17 from the field for 27 points in the Suns' 109-95 road win over Memphis.

Amare Stoudemire added 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Robin Lopez also contributed a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards as Phoenix got back to its winning ways after seeing a five-game win streak stopped prior to the All-Star break.

Rudy Gay registered 21 points and Zach Randolph kicked in 18 with 15 boards for Memphis, which dropped its fifth consecutive game and has lost seven of eight overall after winning 15 of the previous 19 contests.

O.J. Mayo and Sam Young each had 15 points in a losing effort, dropping the Grizzlies to .500 (26-26) on the season.

Memphis was on top 30-27 after the opening 12 minutes, but Phoenix quickly rallied to go in front. Goran Dragic and Jared Dudley drained three-pointers on a 10-0 run early in the second for a 43-34 Suns advantage.

Dudley capped another quick seven-point burst with a basket for a 14-point lead with less than four minutes remaining.

Memphis stopped the bleeding momentarily with a 10-0 stretch of its own to get back within two possessions. Phoenix took a 63-55 lead into the break.

The Suns continued to stretch their lead with spurts of scoring in the second half as Stoudemire sparked an 11-0 run with seven points. The surge morphed into a 17-2 Phoenix run as Richardson added a pair of high-percentage makes from the lane for an 87-66 difference with 3:46 to go.

The Grizzlies scratched back to within 13 heading to the fourth. Grant Hill opened the final stanza with a three and the visitors played front-runner from there.

Richardson’s jumper near the midway point had Phoenix up 99-84 and Stoudemire countered two Memphis long distance makes with a pair of layups to keep the Suns in control at 105-93 with less than three minutes left.
