Shani Davis Defends Gold Medal In Men’s Speed Skating 1000m, Hedrick Takes Bronze

American Shani Davis showed why he was the overwhelming favorite in Men’s Speed Skating 1000.

Skating in the last group of the evening, Davis knew exactly what he needed to do to earn gold, and then went out and did just that. Davis defended his gold medal from the 2006 Games with a time of 1:08.94, just 0.18 seconds ahead of South Korea’s Mo Tae-Bum (the gold medalist in the 500m).
