The San Diego Chargers are seeking a running back and appear wiling to give up CB Antonio Cromartie to get one, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports.

Among the teams that have running back depth are the Dallas Cowboys with Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice at the position. Several teams are looking for cornerback depth, including the Green Bay Packers, sources said.
It’s also possible, Mortensen reports via league sources, that the Chargers would be willing to move Cromartie for a draft choice that could put them in position to draft a running back in April’s draft.
Running back is an issue because it's likely the last year for LaDainian Tomlinson in San Diego and Darren Sproles is on track to be a restricted free agent at more than $7 million next season.
The Chargers have apparently fallen out of favor with Cromartie in recent years. 2007 brought along his best year in the NFL with a league high 10 interceptions. The following season, with expectations high, Cromartie intercepted only two passes. After the season ended, however, he said he had played the entire year on a broken hip.
Cromartie said 2009 was his best season yet despite just three interceptions.
It’s unclear what his value would be at this point. He flashed a boatload of potential in 2007, his second year in the league, but two consecutive down years make you wonder what his production level really is.
The Chargers hold the leverage right now because Cromartie is under contract at a relatively cheap price and possess two quality cornerbacks on the roster that could replace Cromartie.
