No. 7 Kansas State Struggles To Hold Off Nebraska, 91-87
Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - Chris Merriewether hit the go-ahead free throws with 24.2 seconds left, and Denis Clemente sealed the win with a fastbreak layup after Nebraska turned it over on its final possession, as seventh-ranked Kansas State survived a spirited effort from the Cornhuskers in a 91-87 triumph at Bramlage Coliseum.
Clemente and Dominique Sutton each scored 21 points, and Jacob Pullen added 18 for K-State (21-4, 8-3 Big 12), which has won four straight games since dropping an overtime heartbreaker to Kansas and trails the Jayhawks by three games in the league standings.
Ryan Anderson had five of Nebraska's 14 three-pointers to finish with 22 points, and Brandon Richardson chipped in 15 points.
Lance Jeter contributed a dozen points and as many assists for the Cornhuskers (13-13, 1-10), who are last in the conference standings and played their fifth straight contest against Top-25 competition Wednesday.
All five games have come against a stacked Big 12 conference, and each resulted in defeat, including two to the Wildcats.
