As the days get closer and closer to the commencement of free agency, another report has emerged indicating there have been no talks between Darren Sharper and the Saints regarding a contract extension.
Sharper Says He Wants A Long-Term Deal, Still No Contract Talks With Saints
Sharper though told the Times-Picayune that he wants a long-term contract, even if he is 34 years old.
“I would want a longer-term deal, ” Sharper said. “I hope both sides can reach a deal. If I have anything to say, I definitely want to come back. I don’t want to spoil my fans because they have got a lot of great fans in New Orleans. So hopefully, I can get back for a couple more years to keep doing the Sharper Shake for them.”
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the two sides have not been talking about a long-term contract….yet. PFT notes that it’s been only 12 days since the Saints won the Super Bowl and many of the players, including Sharper, have been busy with post-Super Bowl celebrations and media appearances.
