Elliott Sadler says the birth of his newborn son, Wyatt Herman Fritz Sadler, was “by far the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

↵Sadler’s wife Amanda gave birth on Feb. 15, the morning after the Daytona 500, but the driver had to leave his wife and child behind to come to Fontana.
↵The baby is still in the hospital recovering from surgery.
↵“[Leaving] was very, very tough,” Sadler said. “How can something so small create your heart to feel so much love and so much pain all at the same time?”
↵Sadler said Wyatt had to undergo surgery because of “some things with his appendix and intestines, but all of that went great.” The baby will remain hospitalized for “a couple weeks,” Sadler said.
↵Wyatt’s first name came from the Sadlers’ love of the western style and the middle names were a homage to family members.
