Beasley Scores 30 As Heat Defeat Grizzlies In Double OT

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Michael Beasley scored a career-high 30 points, and Udonis Haslem scored eight points in the second overtime, as Miami outlasted Memphis, 100-87, at FedEx Forum.

Beasley, who went 13-of-25 from the field in the absence of Dwyane Wade (left calf strain), added eight rebounds for the Heat, who extended their season- long win streak to five games. Mario Chalmers and Jermaine O'Neal each had 18 points, while Haslem and Carlos Arroyo both finished with 10 points apiece in the victory.

After Miami and Memphis were even following regulation and the first overtime, the visitors blitzed the Grizzlies with a 15-2 run to finish out the game.

Marc Gasol led the home team with 22 points, but Memphis suffered its sixth loss in seven games. Zach Randolph dominated inside with 16 points and 19 rebounds, and O.J. Mayo added 17 points in defeat.

Rudy Gay provided 15 points and eight boards, while Mike Conley had 10 points and seven assists, but it wasn't enough in the end, as the Grizzlies shot just 1-of-8 in the second overtime, including 0-of-5 from three-point range.

Chalmers’ running bank shot with 19.7 seconds left in the first overtime helped send the game into another five-minute period, where Miami dominated.

Beasley opened the scoring with a 22-footer, and Haslem followed with a pair of free throws and two jumpers for a 93-85 advantage with 1:31 left.

Meanwhile, Memphis missed its first four shots before a Gasol layup pulled the hosts to within six points. The Grizzlies, though, finished the game with three misses from beyond the arc, as Miami pulled away for the win.

The Heat's defense was suffocating in the first half. Beasley scored 10 points in the first quarter to stake the visitors to a 21-14 lead after 12 minutes, and Miami's advantage ballooned to 46-31 at halftime.

The roles then reversed in the second half. Mayo tallied 10 points in the third, as the Grizzlies went 9-of-18 from the field as a team to help pull to within 63-57 heading to the fourth.

The Heat held a 72-61 lead with 6 1/2 minutes to go, but an ensuing 15-2 burst put Memphis in front with under a minute left. Gasol had three baskets during the stretch, which Conley closed out with a jumper with 34.4 ticks left for a 76-74 Grizzlies lead.

Beasley, though, quickly tied the game with an 11-foot jump shot 10 seconds later, and both teams failed to score on their final possessions to send the game into overtime.

Both clubs traded a pair of baskets in the first portion of the initial overtime, then O’Neal’s dunk and subsequent free throw put Miami in front, 83-80, with 1:30 to play.

Conley answered with a pair of free throws, and, after a Chalmers missed shot, Mayo put Memphis ahead by a pair after a deep three-pointer with 39 seconds remaining.

Beasley’s layup attempt on the next possession was blocked by Gay, but Beasley won an ensuing jump ball that went to Chalmers, whose basket tied the game and forced a second overtime.

The teams split the season series, 1-1...Miami is now 15-15 on the road, while Memphis is 18-10 at home...The Heat shot 42.2 percent from the field, compared to 38.2 percent for the Grizzlies...O’Neal had nine rebounds.
