Ex-Net Jayson Williams Sentenced To At Least 18 Months For Fatal Shooting

Former New Jersey Net star Jayson Williams has been sentenced to at least 18 months in prison for the 2002 shooting death of his limousine driver, according to Breaking News.

Williams, a one-time NBA all-star, had been in legal limbo for the past eight years stemming from the accidental fatal shooting of his limousine driver, Costas Christofi. Williams was reportedly playing with a shotgun, when it misfired, and killed Christofi. A jury acquitted him of all charges, except for reckless manslaughter, which they deadlocked on in 2002. In 2006 an appeals court ruled that Williams could be retried on the reckless manslaughter charge, and after a series of delays the past four years, a trial was set to begin this past year, before Williams plead to a count of aggravated assault.
