Understudy Plays A Starring Role

In a pre-game poll, SB Nation’s Suns blog, Bright Side Of The Sun, wondered how Goran Dragic would fare in place of injured Steve Nash against the red-hot Thunder. After Tuesday night’s thrilling 104-102 victory, Phoenix fans can breath a little easier.

While Jason Richardson was the star of the game after hitting the game-winner with 0.7 seconds remaining, the story of the game was the play of Dragic. The second-year guard had 16 points and 10 assists and showed “excellent poise, athleticism, and control.”

Nash, who missed the game with a sore back, averages 17.6 points and 11.2 assists. Not much of a dropoff, I’d say.
