Patriots Bring Back WR David Patten

David Patten is back in New England. The Patriots signed the veteran wide receiver who played for them from 2001-2004 today. Patten was out of football last season after being cut by Cleveland during training camp.

After leaving New England, where he won three Super Bowls, Patten played for Washington and New Orleans.

While the end of season injury to Wes Welker leaves his availability for at least the beginning of next season in doubt, it’s certainly surprising that the Patriots are turning to Patten given his age, and that he’s been out of football for a year. New England fans at SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit were certainly...befuddled by the move:
