The NBA Has Upsets Too: Nets Secure Win Number Six, Top Celtics 104-96
Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Brook Lopez led the way with 25 points and Devin Harris scored 23, as the New Jersey Nets notched by far their biggest win of the season with a 104-96 road win against the Boston Celtics.
Courtney Lee added 21 points before leaving in the fourth quarter with a sprained left ankle, while Kris Humphries and Keyon Dooling logged valuable minutes off the bench, ending with 11 points each.
Humphries also grabbed 10 boards as the Nets used free throw shooting to pull off the win. Lopez and Harris combined to go 21-of-24 from the line, while New Jersey finished 34-of-41 overall. Boston, meanwhile, was 9-of-11 at the line.
New Jersey, which also notched just its the sixth win of the season, beat Boston for the first time since February 2007 to snap a 12-game skid in the series.
Kevin Garnett had 26 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics, who have lost three of their last four both at home and overall. Marquis Daniels chipped in 16 points and Rajon Rondo added 13 points and 17 assists in the loss.
Boston again played without star forward Paul Pierce, who missed his third straight game due to a sore right thumb. The Celtics shot a miserable 3-for-19 from three-point range while committing 18 turnovers.
