NFL tight ends aren’t the same immovable boulders that they used to be. Vernon Davis and Antonio Gates are prime examples. They are giant, they are incredibly coordinated, and for their size, they are ridiculously fast. And this trend is only going to continue.
Memo To Wide Receivers At The NFL Combine: You Are Slower Than A Lineman
↵Enter Pitt tight end Dorin Dickerson, who not only recorded the fastest 40-time of any TE at the combine, but also outran all but one of the wide receivers. He posted a 4.40. Joe McKnight, that speedy running back for USC, ran a 4.47. That’s what we are dealing with here.
↵From Bruce Feldman’s twitter:
↵↵That TE (Dickerson) also ran faster than every WR ‘cept Jacoby Ford.
↵↵Congratulations to Jacoby Ford for being the only WR to beat the tight end in a foot race. As for everyone else, you have some work to do.
↵Now, go back to watching hockey/spilling drinks/going bananas.
