Nationals Sign Adam Kennedy As Plan B 2B

Adam Kennedy’s contract with the Washington Nationals is worth $1.25m in 2010, and comes with a $2m 2011 team option. It is a low-risk investment that comes with a moderate amount of upside.

After falling out of favor in St. Louis and floating around a little bit, Kennedy wound up in Oakland last year and got off to a huge start, batting .360 with an OPS over 1.000 as late as early June. He would, of course, slow down over the rest of the season, but his final batting line resembled the kinds of numbers he used to put up as an Angel before moving to the NL, when he was a quality regular player.
