As of this moment, it’s being reported that Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney is likely to play in the Super Bowl. His injury is significant, however, and there are certainly no guarantees. So if the Colts have to do without their indispensable defensive threat, how will they do?
Madden Sim: How Would The Colts Do Without Dwight Freeney?
↵In pursuit of the answer, I fired up Madden 10, took Freeney off the Colts’ depth chart, and pitted the Colts against the Saints. One thing is clear: Freeney’s absence was a major issue.
↵Drew Brees was not sacked once, and for the most part, he moved the ball down the field with no trouble. Although he threw two picks -- one of them a 95-yard pick-six -- he passed for an alarming 395 yards and two touchdowns.
↵In the end, the Saints won 22-20 courtesy of a late 47-yard field goal by Garrett Hartley. There you have it. Cancel the Super Bowl, folks; we already know how it’s going to play out.
