Matt Damon: a Chelsea man, apparently

I guess the fellas calling yesterdays Arsenal-Chelsea proceedings aren’t big Jason Bourne fans. Uh, guys, maybe you need to get that situation sorted out. Or maybe, being Brits, they were pissed off that over much the last decade Bourne had been doing Bond better than the Bond series, as the venerable UK institution had lost its way, stumbling into the silly zone before a Daniel Craig-assisted rally.

Any-who, right in the middle of matters Sunday at Stamford Bridge, TV directors cut to a rather long, static shot of two faces in the crowd. They seemed to be having a good time, smiling and chatting away while watching the game along with the rest of us. Maybe the announcers weren’t checking out the monitor at that exact moment, but for whatever reason they didn’t note that those faces belonged to Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass. Greengrass teamed with Damon on two of the Bourne movies (Supremacy and Ultimatum) and also on Damon’s upcoming Green Zone.

Word is that the American actor is a Chelsea fan. (And that he does a mean Michael Ballack impersonation.)
