Looking Back at TSB’s Week in South Florida for Super Bowl 44

After Sunday night’s Super Bowl I slept all of about 45 minutes before I had to jump in a rental car and head to Miami International Airport. That little nap led to me sleeping away the better part of this afternoon once I made it back to Charlotte. Now that I’ve got some reasonable amount of sleep under my belt, let’s take a look back at the week TSB had in South Florida.

The game: From our lovely view in the corner of the end zone where Tracy Porter would return the game-clinching interception, both Michael Tunision and I live blogged our way through the game. I had the task of writing about the losing side, where I reflected on the disappearance of the Colts’ pass rush and running back Joseph Addai. Tunison talked about Sean Payton’s gambles and Jeremy Shockey’s humility in victory. Tunsion also did a postgame lap to check out the taunts between the fans on both sides.

The parties/events: We tried to hit as many as we could, most notably hitting Chad Ochocinco’s Mansion Party, Madden Bowl, the Playboy Golf red carpet, the DirecTV Beach Bowl and more. Tunison also landed a few strong interviews with the folks at the Hall of Fame announcement.

The interviews: We talked to a lot of people, many of whom were players who were just about sick of talking to anyone with a recorder or microphone. Still we had some fun with folks. Recapping: Chad Ochocinco, Jerome Bettis, Ray Rice, Chris Cooley, Darnell Dockett, Chuck Liddell, Shane Mosley, Santonio Holmes, Mark Sanchez, Jared from Subway, Mardy Gilyard, Tim Hardaway, Miles Austin, Bill Romanowski and Marshall Faulk. I’m not sure I’d count our run-in with Marshawn Lynch as an interview, but it was funny, nonetheless.

Media day: We were all over it with photo galleries from the Colts, Saints and the sideshows of the day. We brought you large singing men and light verbal jabs between former teammates.
