Brett Griffin, one of the more popular NASCAR figures in the Twitter world, has halted his tweeting.
Popular Spotter Quits Twitter
↵Griffin, who spots for Elliott Sadler and is also his business manager, was known as @19spotter on Twitter and was the third-most-followed non-driver on last month’s SBNation.com Twitter rankings. He had more than 3,400 followers at the time he deleted his account.
↵His final tweet:
↵↵@19Spotter: My account’s gonna close y’all. Apparently stalkers have scared @elliott_sadler away from following me.
↵↵So what was the reason for Griffin closing his account?
↵“It was occupying too much of my time,” he said via text message Thursday afternoon. “They don’t make Betty Ford for Twitterholics!
↵“If I could tweet for a living, I would. It was taking up too much of my time.”
↵It might sound silly for those who aren’t in the Twitter world, but Griffin’s disappearance disappointed his followers.
↵A sampling:
↵↵@LToney11: @19Spotter Please tell me you’re joking!
↵@thejokeisonme: @19Spotter WTF?? I’m going to miss your smart ass!
↵@NCJake2013: @19Spotter You quittin’ twitter? wtf man. You’re the funniest dude I follow next to Conan O’Brien.
↵@Jrsgirl112208: @19spotter u can’t leave twitter we would miss u very much so please dont leave
↵@Belladia8: @19Spotter Well if you are truly leaving, please take care of yourself. May God bless you and your family.
↵↵Even one of Griffin’s fellow spotters seemed disappointed. T.J. Majors, who spots for Dale Earnhardt Jr., tweeted this picture.
