WVU’s Da’Sean Butler Called ‘Bank’ On His Game-Winner

Buried in Stewart Mandel’s recap of last night’s thrilling WVU-Cincy game is this quote from Lance Stephenson, confirming that Da’Sean Butler called “bank” when his game-winning shot was in flight:

↵↵“He called it,” said Stephenson, a New York City native. “He said ‘bank.’ I said ‘What?’ I turned ‘round and I saw it go in. Oh, man.”

↵↵According to the Playground Basketball Rulebook, if a player calls “bank,” it protects the shot from being discriminated against for the ugly manner in which it made its way through the hoop. It is to be shown the same reverence as a swish, none of which matters to WVU fans who just want to scream and yell and burn things:
