According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to send quarterback Shaun Hil to the Detroit Lions for a 2011 seventh-round pick.
49ers Trade QB Shaun Hill To Lions For Seventh-Round Pick
Hill, who was 10-6 as the 49ers starter, finished the season behind Alex Smith on the depth chart. The 49ers recently signed a new backup quarterback in David Carr. The Lions offensive coordinator, Scott Linehan, is familiar with Hill having coached him in Minnesota.
A seventh-rounder seems like a cheap price to pay for a former starting quarterback with a winning record. But the Niners had already signed David Carr and were clearly going to move on without Hill. At least they got something in return.
