The “Most Loyal Fanbase” argument has finally been answered. Jim Baker, the newest member of the Green Bay Packers Fan Hall of Fame, proves that those who bleed green and gold, do in fact bleed best.
Packer Fans: Artfully Toeing The Line Between Loyal And Criminally Negligent
↵Jim went to his first game in 1941 and has had season tickets for the last 60 years, but thats not even one-fourth of half the story.
↵At some point while raising 11 children, Baker feared he would be unable to save enough money to purchase season tickets to the Pack. When most fans would give up and take pride in being a responsible father, Baker got creative. Baker decided he would sell his blood, at $15 a pint, to pay for his tickets (gives a whole new meaning to the term “liquid assets - WORDPLAY!). Baker donated multiple times a month to get enough money for his tickets. This makes him the most devoted - and also gives him a strong case for most creative - fan I’ve ever heard of.
↵But wait, there’s more. During a physical Baker was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, a potentially fatal disease that causes blood to retain too much iron. The only treatment is to remove the excess iron by giving blood, one pint at a time. At the time of his diagnosis, Baker estimated he had already had about 150 “treatments.” His doctors feel he very well might have died had he not been giving blood to pay for tickets.
