When we last saw Shaun Livingston’s name in the national press, it was on a cold, winter night in 2007, and it was after his body went sprawling on the floor as his knee completely gave way.

↵That was over four years ago. Since then, Livingston has been written off, dismissed, mourned and forgotten. He’s been cut by four teams and was only signed by the Wizards because their two natural point guards are suspended.
↵And yet, Livingston is turning heads. He’s coming off an 18 point, eight assist game against Orlando on Saturday, which is his best game since the injury, as the New York Times’ Jonathan Abrams notes:
↵↵But there is a reason why Henry Thomas, Livingston’s agent, called him nearly in tears after the game. The tally represents more than just numbers. They are the most points and assists Livingston has amassed since his gruesome injury in February 2007, in which he landed awkwardly on his left knee, damaging virtually every portion of it.
↵↵How could you not want this guy to succeed? Here’s someone whose knee told him to quit altogether and who had to listen to four teams essentially imply they didn’t think he could make it back. He never quit, and now, he may be getting his shot to show what he can do.
↵And who knows, maybe he does completely turn it around. After all, he’s only 24, which makes him 30 years younger than Greg Oden.
