The Cubs left Mesa Monday morning for their final trip to Tucson, where Cactus League baseball is being played for the final time this spring. If any of the players on the bus were sentimental about their last trip down I-10, they got a little more time to think about it as the bus broke down, leaving the team stranded in the desert without air conditioning for over an hour.
Cubs Get Extra Time To Savor Their Last Trip To Tucson
↵Infielder Jeff Baker drove to Tucson by himself and scheduled starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano and catcher Koyie Hill were able to catch a ride, but the rest of the Cubs players were a captive audience for Kevin Millar and Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino while waiting for over an hour for a replacement bus to arrive.
↵The Cubs were due in Tucson at 10 am local time and arrived at 11:25, still with plenty of time to play Monday’s game.
