Report: Iowa To Part Ways With Basketball Coach Todd Lickliter

Iowa’s athletic department has apparently decided they’ve seen enough. According to Fox Sport’s Jeff Goodman, Iowa basketball coach Todd Lickliter will officially announce he is leaving the university at a press conference at 3:30 PM EST on Monday. It was not immediately clear whether Lickliter chose to resign under pressure or was fired.

Lickliter coached Iowa for three seasons, racking up a 38-58 record. The bottom fell out this season, however, for the Hawkeyes, as they stumbled to a listless 10-22 record. Indeed, when the news broke that Lickliter was scheduled to meet with Iowa AD Gary Bart on Monday, speculation at SB Nation’s Iowa blog, Black Heart Gold Pants, centered on Lickliter likely leaving.

Lickliter previously coached at Butler, where he took the Bulldogs to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances.
