Bellator FC Signs Lightweight Star Roger Huerta

After a weekend of speculation as to what Bellator’s big anouncement on Monday would entail, it ended up being what everyone had anticipated. Former UFC lightweight fighter Roger Huerta has signed with Bellator and will compete in the promotion’s season two lightweight tournament.

“El Matador” will carry a 21-3-1 record into the tourney, though he is coming of back-to-back losses to Gray Maynard and Kenny Florian under the UFC banner.

Huerta has also been somewhat inactive over the last couple years as he dropped his gloves to pursue other careers in acting and modeling.

Now with Bellator, a promotion that is quickly raising it’s profile and defining their identity in the eyes of fight fans across the world, the 26 year-old Huerta has a chance to show the masses that he’s still got the weapons that saw him ride a 17-fight win streak over the course of three years as he announced his presence to the MMA world.

Other lightweights set to participate in the season two tournament are Toby Imada, Janne Tulirinta, Chad Hinton, Ferrid Kheder, Mike Ricci, and Carey Vainer.

Stay tuned to SB Nation for the final fighter announcement of Bellator’s season two lightweight tournament.
