Anthony Johnson put himself in the national spotlight after his 42-point performance in the Big Sky Championship to propel the Grizzlies into the NCAA Tournament. Their reward...a date with the 3-seed New Mexico Lobos.
New Mexico vs. Montana Officially Upgraded To “Chippy”
↵A video posted this week on the Montana website showed the Grizzlies celebrating their tourney bid. It also featured Johnson nonchalantly lobbing some bulletin board material New Mexico’s way (2:08 mark).

↵↵“We’re happy about being a 14 seed. I’m glad we don’t have to play one of these huge, Big East teams. My heart was kind of pumping a little bit for that.”
↵↵As you might imagine, New Mexico has taken some issue with the comparison.
↵↵“You have to pay attention to stuff like that, that’s a slap in the face,” [New Mexico guard Dairese Gary] said.
“So we’re thinking about it. I’m sure he didn’t mean anything about it, but at the same time, that’s the kind of momentum to stay focused and go out and play hard.”
↵↵New Mexico-Montana is one of the late games on Thursday (9:40 p.m. EST) so there’s still plenty of time for both teams to stew and/or say something else they shouldn’t.
