The Cubs are negotiating with Toyota to put a large advertising sign behind the Wrigley Field bleachers.
You Didn’t Ask For It, But You May Get It Anyway
↵Notwithstanding Toyota’s current troubles, this sends some Cubs fans — who apparently want Wrigley Field to look like it did in 1945 — into a tizzy. At the same time, the team doesn’t have a Jumbotron, so it can’t reap the revenues from such a device, the way most teams can.
↵Here’s a rendering of what the sign might look like. I’m as traditionalist a Cubs fan as they come, but if it helps bring more money to make the Cubs a winning team, bring it on.
