Another disappointing playoff run and roster changes have left the San Diego Chargers with holes to fill. This is going to be an important offseason for the Chargers to see if they can retool at some positions while keeping their recent success rolling. One position that won’t be addressed is the quarterback position where Phillip Rivers continues to grow.
San Diego Chargers team needs
1. Running Back
- LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles are both on the market and are likely to be wearing different uniforms next season. Their departure leaves the Chargers extremely thin at the running back position. Rumors are that they are looking to move Antonio Cromartie in an attempt to pick up some help at the position. Some options at the end of the first round include Ryan Matthews, Jahvid Best, and Jonathan Dwyer. Dwyer looks like less of an option after an unimpressive combine.
2. Nose Tackle
- Jamal Williams is aging and unable to stay healthy. The nose tackle is crucial to the success of a 3-4 defense, look for the Chargers to address this position in the draft. Some options for the Chargers include Terrence Cody and Cam Thomas
3. Offensive Tackle
- Marcus McNeil is solid but struggled a little last season. Depth and talent are needed at this position. Phillip Rivers is the engine for this franchise so his protection and health needs to be a top priority.
