Dodgers, White Sox, Reds and Angels Skip Cactus League Breakfast Over Cubs’ Stadium Dispute
This year, though, there were only two general managers in attendance (one of them was Cubs GM Jim Hendry), and Carrie Muskat reports that four teams boycotted the event entirely in protest of a proposed Cactus League ticket surcharge to pay for a new stadium for the Cubs in Mesa.
This story has been covered extensively elsewhere (the most thorough post I’ve seen on the matter was at AZ Snakepit), but the fact that it’s still moving forward is mind boggling, with all 14 other Cactus League teams having voiced opposition and the Commissioner’s Office coming out against it.
