Continuing with our position rankings, I present the Top 25 outfielders for 2010 fantasy drafts. The list is headed by Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp, who I think is on the verge of a 30-30 season in 2010. Most other fantasy writers would pick Ryan Braun ahead of Kemp, but, to me, Kemp is closing in on being one of the few 30-30 hitters in all of baseball.

If the Indians Grady Sizemore rebounds from his 2009 season with a 30-30 season, he would be in the Top 3, but I like Upton just as much as the rest of fantasy owners out there. Upton could easily go 35-20 in 2010, and he’s only 22 years old.
As you can see from the list, I value guys who can hit a home run and steal a base, regardless of the batting average. This may be contrary to how others may rank players, but that is what I am most comfortable doing. As a result, I don’t rank the Jacoby Ellsbury’s and Michael Bourn’s as high as others. I am curious if both can steal 60+ bases in 2010. I am not so sure, and I think Ellsbury is being ranked too high in pre-season rankings because of that.
I also think guys like Carlos Lee and Manny Ramirez are being ranked too low by others. I have them just outside my Top 10, and think they can still put up a 30-100-.300 season for fantasy owners in 2010. Many forget that Ramirez was injured last season after returning from his 50 game suspension, and attribute his “mediocre” second half to him coming off steroids. I don’t buy it.
One guy who I probably ranked higher than others is Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen. I can see McCutchen stealing 35 bases this season with 15 HRs and 100 runs scored.
I would have ranked Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran higher but I don’t know when he will return this season. If he comes back by early May, I think he can outperform some of the guys I ranked ahead of him, but I also wonder how much power he will show this season.
The Top 26-50 outfielder rankings will be posted on Monday.
