Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Murphy Holloway completed a three-point play with three seconds remaining to lift the second-seeded Ole Miss Rebels to a thrilling 90-87 victory over the fifth-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders in the quarterfinal round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Ole Miss Outlasts Texas Tech In Double-Overtime, Advances To Madison Square Garden
Chris Warren netted 22 points for Ole Miss (24-10), which moves on to Madison Square Garden to face either top-seeded Illinois or third-seeded Dayton in the semifinal round. Holloway and Terrico White both added 17 points, and Holloway ripped down 11 rebounds to go along with five steals.
Mike Singletary poured in 28 points in defeat for Texas Tech (19-16). The Red Raiders received 14 points from Brad Reese, as well as 12 points and 17 boards from D’walyn Roberts.
Ole Miss led 34-29 at intermission despite 38.9 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.
In the second half, Texas Tech nailed four three-pointers and knotted the score at 68-68, forcing overtime.
In the 10 total minutes of overtime sessions, Ole Miss outscored Texas Tech 11-3 from the foul line.
The Rebels, who got 10 points from Zach Graham, committed six fewer turnovers than the Red Raiders in the tilt.
