Great news for the UFC and their new broadcasting partner Versus.
UFC On Versus Debuts With 1.2 Million Viewers
John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal tweeted the report earlier today:
For comparison purposes, the WEC, which has called Versus home for the last three plus years, has twice gone over the one million viewership mark -- at WEC 34 (1.5 million) and WEC 41 (1.3 million). Both of those cards featured the promotion’s top draw in the main event, Urijah Faber.
While the UFC on Versus 1 was a decent card with a couple of meaningful fights, no competitor on the main card is known as a “top draw.”
It’s also important to note the agreement between Versus and DirecTV which came to fruition last week and garnered plenty of buzz in the media world, likely creating hype and excitement for Versus programming.
Regardless of what factors played a role in this positive development, it’s a major coup for the UFC and lends one to believe we will be seeing a lot more of the Zuffa big brother on Versus.
